Opposition parties and media groups have protested over the Fiji Government's buying of a major stake in the Daily Post, one of the country's two daily newspapers. But the Government insists that it is for the benefit of the nation. 
Liberty isn't like a tap; it isn't something that can be turned on and off at will. Much the same can be said for freedom of speech, including the freedom of the media, and the freedom of citizens to use the media to express their views.
Last year we promised the content would be more regional for this second issue. Once again it is heavily concentrated on Melanesia, particular Papua New Guinea. We make no apologies for this. It is appropiate for this issue as a number of news media...
